'The freshmen are awesome!' Jeonbuk is different, 'dominates' Pohang 2-0
Jeonbuk defeated Pohang Steelers 2-0 in the first leg of their 2023-2024 Asian Champions League (ACL) Round of 16 match at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on Thursday, thanks to back-to-back goals from Hernandez and Ahn Hyun-beom. The victory was a pleasant one for Jeonbuk, who played their first official match of the season in the ACL before the start of the K League season. Jeonbuk only needed a one-goal loss in the second leg to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. Jeonbuk suffered a blow to its pride last season. They finished fourth in the league and missed out on their last hope, the FA Cup. It was the first time since 2013 that they finished out of the competition. The results were there, but the story wasn't. Desperate, Jeonbuk embarked on another rebuild this winter. They dropped foreigner Jin Yong, who scored less than 10 goals last season. They dumped all of their existing resources and added Thiago, who finished second in K League 1 scoring last season (17 goals), and Incheon
