"Aiming for permanent seeding"

Park Sang-hyun (41) is celebrating his 20th anniversary on the tour this year.

After joining the KPGA Tour Professional (full member) in April 2004, he made his KPGA Tour debut in 2005 and has played in 202 tournaments from the Skyhill Jeju Open in April 2004 to the LG Signature Players Championship last year. He has been self-seeded every year except for his military service. He has won a total of 14 titles, including 12 on the KPGA Tour and two on the Japan Tour. He won the Genesis Championship last October, becoming the first player in history to surpass 5 billion won in career earnings.

"Looking back, I'm overwhelmed with emotion. I didn't expect to be on the tour for so long, and competing with younger players is meaningful in itself," said Park. "Now, I'm aiming for the 'permanent seeding,' which requires more than 20 wins, and it won't be easy, but I'll give it a shot," he added. "I have a lot of affection for being the No. 1 player in Korea in terms of prize money earned," said Park Sang-hyun, who added, "It's harder to defend the top spot than to take it away. I want to widen the gap in prize money so that other players can't catch up," he laughed.

Park has recently won three consecutive titles. In 16 events last season, he had one win, two runner-up finishes and six top-10s. He finished third in Genesis Points and won the Deokchun Award for the lowest scoring player with a 69.857 average. 토토사이트 "The driving force behind 'Long Run' is that I want to stay active on the tour for a long time with consistently good results rather than rushing to win titles or championships," said Park, who also expressed his desire to win the 'KPGA Championship' before he finishes his career.

This season, Park will also be competing in sponsored events. He has been with the main sponsor (Dong-A Pharmaceuticals) for 10 years since 2015 and said, "I will work hard to make the tournament a success," adding, "From a player's point of view, I will help in small ways to establish the tournament as a 'tournament for players and by players'. Of course, I'm also coveting the title of 'inaugural champion'," he said. "I will tell the younger players that we have to be good to our sponsors to make this happen," he continued, "Of course, it's important to find sponsors. But even after you have a relationship, you have to take care of your attitude and mindset towards the sponsor. I think it is also necessary to have mutual trust," he concluded.
