'Mudshoe' Nadal reaches Nordic Open singles quarterfinals after Paris Olympics run
As he prepares for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Rafael Nadal (Spain, World No. 261) has advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's singles competition at the ATP Tour Nordic Open.
The Spaniard defeated 42nd-ranked Cameron Norrie of Great Britain 2-0 (6-4 6-4) in the second round of the singles competition on Monday (Sept. 19) in Bastad, Sweden.
Nadal will face Argentina's Mariano Navone (No. 36) for a spot in the quarterfinals.
“I haven't played a lot of matches (this season), so today's match helped me find my rhythm,” Nadal said after the quarterfinal, ‘I think I need to be more aggressive,’ he added.
Nadal has been cruising in singles play after reaching the quarterfinals in doubles on Sunday, where he was paired with Kasper Lourdes (NOR).
Nadal will also compete in both singles and doubles at the Paris Olympics, 안전놀이터 which kick off later this month.
The tennis competition at the Paris Olympics will be played on clay courts at Roland Garros. Nadal has won the French Open at Roland Garros 14 times.
Nadal will compete in the doubles competition in Paris with Carlos Alcaraz (#3-Spain), who won both the French Open and Wimbledon this year.
